Support on Evenings & Weekends!

Extended Support for your hardware and software!

A number of merchants calling in are not aware how to get their reports and receipt signatures online.
This  brings us to this weeks' article.  First, in order to access the reporting system, just go to:
  www.EnterTransactions.com
which is certainly easy to remember!  It
gives you a link to Transaction Central, and gives us a spot to alert you to critical hardware and software updates as well!  Login with your 5-Digit Merchant ID, and Password

When the main screen comes up, click on the blue "Reports" button.
Then, click on the "Transaction Detail Report" Button.

The "Search by" dialog box will always be default to "Credit Cards - Today"  You can change the "start date" (Red Arrow) to see your sales for the week, month, year- any date range at all.  When you have selected a date range, click "Apply Filters" (Blue Arrow above).

After you have pressed "Apply Filters", you will see your day's transactions.  The leftmost column, marked "Transaction ID" contains the unique ID for each transaction, and each one is a link to the details of that transaction:

After selecting a transaction ID, you will see the details for that transaction.  By clicking on the "View Receipt" button, you will see the receipt, with the captured signature! (sample at bottom)

You can now generate a trouble ticket that we monitor on evenings and weekends!
This support is PRIMARILY via email, but you can include a phone number where you can be reached.  This support is for our software and hardware packages only, billing and transactional problems are handled at the toll free number you were sent upon approval.  Response times can range from minutes to hours, depending on the time and day of submission.  Click here to see the trouble ticket entry form.

Since starting this program over a year ago, we have helped hundreds of merchants to solve their problems on weekends, or late at night.  We have dealt with activation issues, hardware problems, installations, and much more.

You can always find our Trouble Ticket system, as it is located on our "Contact Us" page at: www.MerchantAnywhere.com.  Just click on the link, tell us who you are, what you are working with, and what the problem is.

One of the most inexpensive and useful items
a merchant can own is a manual imprinter.  With a Swiped Transaction, it can provide you with Chargeback Protection (See newsletter Issue #14)!  It can also provide a backup if you are out of wireless, range, or if your network or Internet provider is having problems.  When storing swiped transactions on your PDA (for instance, if you were out of range), a manual imprint gives you a permanent copy of the cardholder information should your PDA be lost, stolen, or damaged before you get back in range.  All in all, since your livelihood depends on credit card transactions, there is no better $50 investment!  Our Imprinter bundle includes 300 sales slips, at 30% of their normal price!

When you set up your cable or DSL connection to the Internet, your cable or phone company will tell you to plug your PC or Mac straight into their modem, which is just like plugging your computer into the Internet.

This is a very bad idea. Instead, you want to plug your computer into a simple hardware router. A simple hardware router will contain a built-in firewall suitable for home or small business use. You get the added benefit that you can run multiple computers off your broadband (cable or DSL) connection.

We use Linksys routers. You can find them costing $50 and up. For example, Office Depot has a Linksys 10/100 Router for $59.99. Keep the software firewall on your PC turned on as well.

The Pfishers are getting more and more tricky every day! Take a look at an email we received under the guise of Charter One Bank.

These guys actually registered the name Charter-One.net, which could fool a lot of people.  CharterOne's actual website is CharterOneBank.com, but how many of their customers would catch this?   A check of the WHOIS registry shows that the phony site is registered to someone in Italy!

The plot thickens, there is a virus involved as well!  Using a special machine that we keep insulated for testing scams, we find that clicking on the link invokes the JS.Trojan.Blinder virus, which is an embedded JavaScript Trojan horse that spoofs the URL displayed in the browser address bar.

The moral of the story is: NEVER, EVER click on en email requesting any type of financial or personal information!  If you think it might be legit, DO NOT USE THE EMAIL, go directly to the company website YOURSELF.  If you do not know the URL (address) of the company, go to GOOGLE, and type in the company name.
