This week's article is on what you need to do to prevent being the SOURCE of a fraud event! Companies that manage credit card information have just over a month to comply with new data-protection requirements being pushed by MasterCard International Inc. and Visa U.S.A. Inc. amid growing concerns about identity theft and fraud. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, or PCI, lists 12 items that retailers, online merchants, data processors and other businesses that handle credit card data will have to start meeting by June 1. The standard sets technology requirements such as the use of data encryption, end-user access control, and activity monitoring and logging. It also includes procedural mandates such as the need to implement formal security policies and vulnerability management programs. The

AND MAINTAIN A SECURE NETWORK If all your credit card information is in Transaction Central, rest assured, you are compliant. If you have an e-commerce store, make sure you have it set to NOT store credit card numbers! Our recommendation for best way to be immune to these regulations is to NEVER store credit card numbers on your computer systems! We do not store any credit card numbers ourselves, and this has never been a problem. If you absolutely MUST keep card #'s on file, either do it off-line (not on your computers, or on a system that is NOT CONNECTED to the Internet. Limit access to this PC to only TRUSTED personnel. |

nSwipe is different from
our PDA-based products, it is intended for companies that already use Nextel. nSwipe will give your Nextel phones the ability to swipe credit cards anywhere you have service coverage. Nextel phones do not have the ability for signature capture, store & forward, and receipt printing that our PDA packages have, but if you are using Nextel for its Direct-Connect feature, you already have half of a wireless credit card system, and nSwipe is the other half!
nSwipe uses the nSwipe.com WAP Server, built with 100% organic, no chemicals added, WAP (Wireless Access Protocol), which gives you unlimited transaction capabilities. The nSwipe.com service is only $8.99 per month, for your merchant account access. You can have as many phones on your account as you like. We get a LOT of calls asking why we are the only company to actually post our rates, fees, and charges on the web, while competitors like Creditel, Aircharge, and CCPoint do not. The answer is simple, they are protecting their resellers, who will try to wring every dime they can talk you out of, with high rates and leases. They also have per-phone and per transaction add-ons: WE DO NOT! We are a developer-direct-to-merchant provider, and NOBODY gets a commission on our products and services. DON'T make someone's Mercedes payment by paying more for the same thing. |
