Alltel finally gets two Smartphones!

Alltel now carries the Treo 650 and Audiovox 6700

THIS ONE IS UNBELIEVABLE!  If you read last week's email, you remember we warned our merchants that the holiday season is the time that all the fraudsters come out.  One of the front line protections is the AVS (Address Verification System) which will tell you if the address given is actually the one the card bill is sent to.

Authorize.net ACTUALLY sent the following email (marketing verbiage  about the value of gift cards removed) to its merchants to "help" them accept gift cards online:

Your Authorize.Net ID is: xxxxxxx
Dear Authorize.Net Merchant:

...AVS is a valuable fraud-prevention tool that allows you to validate customer billing address information before accepting credit card transactions. However, to allow for the smooth processing of gift credit cards during increased holiday shopping, please take the following steps to verify, and if necessary, turn off the appropriate default AVS setting for your payment gateway account:

1. Log into your Merchant Interface account
2. Click "Settings and Profile" in the main menu
3. Click "Address Verification System (AVS)" in the Security section
4. Click to deselect the checkbox labeled "Address information for
cardholder is unavailable (U)"
5. Click "Submit"

Your AVS settings are now updated to allow the processing of gift credit card purchases with unavailable address information. It is recommended that you reinstate this setting shortly after the holiday season.

Your success is our priority, especially at this busy time. Good luck and happy holidays!

Sincerely,
Authorize.Net

Gift cards CAN increase your sales, but OUR recommendation is to maintain your overview of sales, and question ANY transaction that does not meet AVS and CVV2 qualifications.  Turning off, or ignoring AVS can cost you quite a bit of money.

Making a profit on chargebacks is something we do not do, and feel that it is a conflict of interest with our merchants.  Other companies have a different idea, and consider them a profit center.  Make this Christmas a season without ANY chargebacks, and we here at AMSI will be VERY happy!

After YEARS of promising, Alltel FINALLY carries modern Smartphones!.
Not just one model, but two!  They have the ever-popular Treo 650, as well as the new Pocket PC 6700 for Windows Mobile users.

This is really great news, as we have had a lot of people call over the years that are in a Alltel-only service area.  Alltel is the primary service provider for several states, and there are lots of people that will be thrilled by this news!

Alltel is offering these Smartphones, capable of running Pocket Verifier Professional:

We now have a new version of Pocket Verifier Professional
for the new "Square Screen" format Pocket PC's!  These Pocket PC's have a screen with a 240 by 240 pixel format, so the standard Windows Mobile software is difficult to use.

The HP 6515 Mobile Messenger is the first of these units to appear, being distributed by Cingular.  We have not seen very many of these, but this is the screen format of the new TREO 700, so it looks like this is the shape of things to come!

Existing users can find this version in our FREE Upgrades section (you still have to buy the software to get the activation key)
