Motorola Q - "Razrberry" now supported!

So slim and beautiful, you could cry!

Many of us can now "Freeze" our credit reports, so that if our identities are stolen, the criminals cannot get credit cards, loans, or much else with the information!  California, New Jersey, Louisiana, Texas, Vermont, Washington, Nevada, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, North Carolina and Colorado allow this now, however, Texas, Vermont, Illinois and Washington limit this opportunity to those who have been the victim of identity theft or a security breach.

With a credit freeze, no one can open any form of credit in your name. Your credit file is off limits to potential lenders, insurers and even potential employers.

Here's how it works. When you apply for a loan, credit card or cell phone, the company issuing credit contacts one of the three credit reporting agencies and requests to see your credit file. If you have a freeze on your account, the company will be told that it cannot see your credit file because your account is frozen. At this point, most companies would not allow the loan, issue the credit card or activate the cell phone. But this does not mean that you won't be able to get credit for yourself or allow potential employers to run a background check. The three credit bureaus assign a personal identification number for you when you freeze your report. Using this PIN, you can lift the freeze when necessary. With a credit lock-down, a criminal can have your name, birthday and Social Security number -- but it won't matter. No credit will be issued.

For details on who to contact, what to send, etc. CLICK HERE Each state has different fees (set by legislation) that the different companies can charge to freeze, or unfreeze your credit reports.  You will have to do some legwork, you are required to send each credit reporting company a letter, with various information.  The link above contains a table outlining the details for each state.

We think this is wonderful, and all states, or even the Federal government should act to make this available to all.  Some states make this only available to the victims of identity theft, but if everyone locked down their credit reports, identity theft would no longer be profitable, and would be obsolete, like "improper use of a spittoon".

If you have been wondering why you missed a few newsletters,
it is because we suspended them while we migrated our site to our new Windows 2003 servers. This allows us to keep up with the heavy traffic as we continue to grow!

Initially thought to be a Pocket PC, the Motorola Q is a Windows Mobile Smartphone, without a touch screen. .
Also known as the "Razrberry" for the similar layout and form-factor to the Blackberry that has made history in the number of lawsuits RIM attracted.

On the Positive side, there does not seem to be any question about the technology used, Motorola is an acknowledged leader in handhelds and wireless.  On the negative side, Verizon has apparently crippled the unit intentionally, to prevent you using the device with non-Verizon services.  It appears they removed the serial port profile from the device.  We have been informed that Q's from other carriers will not have this problem.

Nonetheless, we were able to get our Pocket Verifier Professional working on the Verizon Q's landscape screen, using our Pocket Spectrum Bluetooth card reader and printer!

Pocket Verifier for the Motorola Q works just like our standard Smartphone software, reformatted for the unique screen layout of the Q.  We really like this layout, it is easier than those that flip the screen sideways to browse the web:

Pocket Verifier Professional for the Motorola Q
is as full-featured as our other versions of Pocket Verifier (except for the on-screen signature), with automatic receipt printing, credit card identification by type, Transaction Manager Database, Credits, Voids, Store & Forward, modifiable receipts, and much much more.

Verizon's data service, while expensive, gives our users some of the fastest transaction times we have seen.  This can be a real advantage to merchants that have long lines at their kiosk or show booth!

For those of you who have been waiting..  It has finally happened. Hell has frozen over.  You can show this picture to your wife / husband as proof.

All of us have heard the line: "You can (what you want to do) when Hell Freezes over!"  Now is your chance!  ...Now, all I have to do is locate an avian porcine (flying Pig), and I will be all set!
