Treo 650 & Treo 700 Have OTA Installation!

These Treos can download right from the Internet!

Sony music gets its just rewards..
We previously reported that Sony music was using an invasive technology called a "rootkit" on some of it's music CD's and that this technology was potentially dangerous, all in the name of "Protecting" their music.  Now, Sony has reached a settlement, and purchasers of any CD that has this technology on it are due Free replacement, MP3 versions, Cash and other selections.  The CD's that had this reprehensible technology are listed here.  Fortunately, the claim form is online, and you can see the terms and conditions, then submit a claim against Sony here. Hopefully, enough people will claim against Sony to let them know that the public does NOT want software installed on their PC's when they play a music CD!

If you are having difficulty getting a connection, or anytime you see "Looking for connection" over 30 seconds, tap on the spinning cube to the upper left.  After 30 seconds, it actually stops looking!

After you tap on the cube, you will get a "Connection Cancelled by User" message.  At this point, press "OK", then you can try again by pressing "Charge" again..

It is important to know that the phone gets its best connection when the antenna is pointing straight up.  Many users operate the credit card software with the phone laying on it's back, but in a fringe or remote area, this may not work.  Hold the phone vertically, and up in the air when you are in a bad area.

DO NOT start over and re-swipe the card!  Your first transaction might have gone through, and you just missed the approval!  Re-swiping makes it possible to double charge.  If you "Work" the original swipe, by resubmitting or saving it, you cannot double charge your customer!

The Treo 650 & 700 have the ability do download Pocket Verifier Professional
for first-time installation, or for upgrades!  (OTA stands for Over-The-Air) We have an OTA installation guide downloadable here for the 650, but for those of you familiar with the Palm and the Blazer Browser (Web Application), you can just navigate to MerchantAnywhere.com/Treo650. The download is approximately 650 Kilobytes, and takes about 1 to 2 minutes to complete  Treo 700 users can find the instructions here, or can navigate to MerchantAnywhere.com/Treo700.

The installer is "Smart", in that it will not overwrite an existing activation, or merchant transaction database.  This means you can safely upgrade your software wherever you go!  Those of you who have been with us for a while know we are constantly adding features and functionality, keeping it the number one program in the market!

Our Over-the-Air installation also works for our MAC tools users too! This allows all of the MAC Tool distributors with the new Treo 650 to keep up with new features as they become available.  There is currently no MAC Tools version of the software for the Treo 700, as MAC tools is supplying and financing the Treo 650's.

As a result of angry merchants suing the card companies over unfair merchant rates and fees,
Discover financial services has announced that it will be the first card company to eliminate it's "No Surcharge" rule this October.  This rule is what prevents merchants from passing the costs of taking credit cards to the customer.

Merchants have long been paying higher fees to support the card associations "Rewards", Signature", and "Corporate Purchase Cards", which benefit the card associations, and give the customer rewards... at the Merchant's (your) cost!

Discover has been dropped from the major lawsuit as a result, (there are over 45 pending litigations over interchange) and Mastercard is reported to be signaling that it may change it's stance in the near future as well. We welcome this, as we feel it is wrong for merchants to have to pay a premium to accept "Rewards" and "Corporate" cards!

As soon as either Visa or Mastercard joins Discover in this move, you can rest assured that we will make the necessary changes to our Mobile and PC software immediately, so our merchants can benefit. Pocket and PC Verifier will be able to automatically add a percentage and/or fixed amount per transaction to the charge!  This is just one of the advantages of our technology over traditional merchant terminals..  upgrades like this are just a click away!  Merchants without our technology may have to wait years before the old-style dial-up terminal makers develop new programs- if they ever do at all!
