Auto-Connect for Pocket PC!

Pocket PC's can auto-connect as easy as Palm Devices!

Fraudsters are sending out e-mails that attempt to trick people into sharing personal information over the phone. The spammed message warns of a problem with a bank account and instructs the recipient to dial a phone number to resolve it.

The caller is connected to a voice response system that is made to sound exactly like the bank's own system. The phone system identifies itself to the target as the financial institution and prompts them to enter account number and PIN.

Phishing scams are prevalent and continue to proliferate. In traditional scams, fraudsters try to pilfer personal information by sending spam e-mail with links to a malicious Web site, crafted to look like a site belonging to a trusted service provider. The phone scams are a new twist, made possible by cheap Internet-based telephone services.

As a precaution, people should not dial phone numbers received in an e-mail message and should double-check and dial the numbers printed on ATM and credit cards instead.

One thing that has made Pocket PC's a little harder to use
has been that they do not automatically connect to the internet on demand (except for the built in Explorer).  Usually done by tapping on the antenna icon on the menu bar at the top, or by starting Internet Explorer, this manual connection has been an extra step for all Pocket PC users.

When we developed our version for the Treo 700, we came up with an auto-connect technology.  Initially, this allowed us to connect to the Verizon network automatically, as Verizon was (and still is) the only carrier to sell the Windows version of the Treo.

We have a beta version that will connect automatically on any Pocket PC, for any carrier. Naturally, this has not been tested on every Pocket PC, and every carrier.

This is why we are offering this upgrade at this time as a BETA Release.  You can download it here, and use ActiveSync to install it on your phone. (do a soft reset first)

Once you have installed this new version, go to the Options screen and select your active internet connection from your phone's list of available connections.

It is important that you select the connection. "WAP" IS NOT the correct connection,  you can view your current connection in your Pocket PC's Connection Settings screen.
