This amazing Micro-UV “black” light is perfect for spotting those fake credit cards, counterfeit currency, or any other item that has Ultra Violet (UV) properties. This amazing Micro-UV “black” light is perfect for spotting those fake credit cards, counterfeit currency, or any other item that has Ultra Violet (UV) properties.

Use the Micro-UV light to check new U S currency. All new bills produced except the $1 bill have a security strip imbedded into them. Each strip is coated with special UV ink that turns a different color when subjected to UV light:

$100		Red
$ 50		Yellow
$ 20		Green
$ 10		Orange
$ 5		Blue

Simply shine the light behind the strip to ensure that the bill has the correct color.

Use the Micro-UV light to check credit cards. All major credit cards have letters or an image printed on the front of the card in UV ink. Most fake credit cards DON’T HAVE any UV printing. Click here for the Micro UV and more!

Many of our merchants are accepting cash, using our new cash receipts module for Palm and Pocket PC (see Issues # 31 & 32). With the increase in cash acceptance, the possibility of receiving a counterfeit note increases as well.

Most counterfeit bills are simple, easy-to-detect modifications of real bills (like gluing the corner of a $10 on a $1, or a double sided color reproduction on standard bond paper. There are some very sophisticated people out there, and the US Treasury has placed some advanced anti-counterfeiting devices on the new bills.

With color printers, copiers and scanners cheap and easy to get, it has become easier for the 'bad guys' to produce a passable bill. In order to protect yourself, you and your employees should be aware of the new bills, and technologies to detect counterfeits.
