Merchant Newsletter - September 18, 2004

The library is open!

If you have not been getting these emails, and this is the first one you have seen in a long time (or ever), it is because, in the past, if we received a "bounce" or rejected email, we placed that email address on our "do not mail" list.  After receiving many calls from merchants in regard to the Palm.net shutdown, we realized a lot of merchants who wanted to get our emails were not.  We are starting fresh, sending to all of our merchants and applicants, except, of course those who have asked to be removed.  If you are currently receiving the newsletter, and would like to be removed from the mailing list, reply to this email or send an email with the word "REMOVE' in the subject to: inform@merchantanywhere.com . Once removed, we cannot reinstate that email address, you must re-subscribe with another.

With so many of our merchants using the Treo 300, we have been getting calls for accessories that are getting harder and harder to find.  over 90% of these requests have been for case / belt clip combos and/or hands free headsets for use in vehicles while driving.  We  have made a bulk purchase of the Belkin Leather Case for the TREO 300, and the Jabra Earboom handsfree headset, and are offering them in set for only $19.95.  You can order them here. The leather case matches the case for the Pocket Merchant and includes a belt clip, while the Jabra Earboom includes their flexible microphone boom and six EarGels.

Kyocera or Samsung problems?  As of August 1st, 2004 Palm.net has stopped its Wireless Service and as a result, a number of programs that use the Palm.net INET libraries in the Kyocera and Samsung Smartphones will no longer work.  We did issue an upgrade to get our users operational, but some users have reported problems, and this new upgrade is intended to correct them.

All of our merchant applicants should be receiving this email newsletter.  We DO NOT EVER buy or sell email addresses, all of our emails go to applicants from our merchantanywhere.com merchant application.  If you would like to subscribe from another address, send an email with "SUBSCRIBE" in the subject to: merchantapp@merchantanywhere.com.  If you are currently receiving the newsletter, and would like to be removed from the mailing list, send an email with the word "REMOVE' in the subject to: inform@merchantanywhere.com . If you are interested in fighting fraud, take a look at issues #10, 14, and 17.  If you want to promote your web site, take a peek at #7 and 21!  We feel that the more educated our merchants are, the better they will succeed in their business, and so we endeavor to be a resource for you.

Update to the Palm.net shutdown.  In a recent cNet news article, David Westendorf, Senior Director and General Manager of Palm.net stated that there were approximately 42,000 users that got shut down in August.  Even if all these users were on the $9.95 minimum (which is impossible, as the i705 device had a $19.95 minimum), that would represent almost half a million dollars in revenue per month!  What was PalmOne thinking about?

FREE Stuff! Everybody loves free stuff, and you can get all sorts of Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover merchant materials just by asking!  Actually, you need to go to the proper places on their websites and tell them what you want! The links to these sites are at the bottom of this newsletter, and you can get decals, tip trays, calendars, signs, mouse pads and more!  You 'pay' for it simply by identifying yourself as a merchant with your merchant number.   Look on your statements for this number.
