TREO 180, 270, and 300 Software Upgrade

As of August 1st, 2004 Palm.net has stopped its Wireless Service and as a result, a number of programs that use the Palm.net INET libraries in the Treo 180, 270, and 300 will no longer work.  THIS IS NOT FOR TREO 600, you are fine as you are.  IF YOU HAVE A TREO 600, CLOSE THIS WINDOW!

To avoid this problem, Pocket Verifier (version 8.30 and greater) bypasses the Palm.net libraries. However, you will need to remove the Palm.net INET libraries from your device. Please follow the procedures below, to remove the INET Libraries and to upgrade your Pocket Verifier software to the latest version.

  1. With the phone on, HARD RESET the device.
The reset tool is attached to the tip of the stylus, just unscrew the tip to use it.  The reset hole is on the back of the unit, in the center of the right hand edge as you look at the back:  This is done by holding the POWER button down, pressing on reset momentarily, then after a two second pause, releasing the power button.

  2. If you have done this correctly, you will see the following screen:
Reply by pressing the UP button to erase all data.
  3. You will then calibrate your screen, and set the time and date (We recommend using the Automatic Time checkbox)

  4. Hotsync your Treo. USING A NEW HOTSYNC NAME

This will back up your fresh Treo image. (If you use the old name, you will put the old software that we just deleted back on!)

  5. Download and install the latest release of Pocket Verifier from our WEB Site.

  6. Activate your account with your 5-digit MID, Password, and Key, or see the Pocket Verifier User Guide & Tutorial on how to setup your account.

  7. OPTIONAL  After you have set up your new Device, the next stage is to transfer address, memo, to-do, and calendar information.

    To do this…

    1. Open Palm Desktop
    2. Select your Old Device (i.e., TREO600)
    3. Choose the information you want to copy (i.e., Address)
    4. Copy the data to the clipboard
    5. Select your New Device (i.e., TREO)
    6. Paste the information in

The example here is for the Address book, but you can repeat these steps for other information as well.

Next time you Hotsync New Device, the information will be transferred over.

Once everything is done, you can even Edit Users from the User list and delete the Old Device.
